Walk to School Week 17-21 May 2021

A generation ago, 70% of us walked to school – now it’s less than half. We want to reverse this decline. We want children to be energised and empowered, and to make walking to school their natural choice. Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking are again running a national Walk to School campaign.

Holmes Chapel Partnership is planning to support our schools during this week by accompanying children and parents on their walk to school on Wednesday May 19th. The children have permission to dress up as superheroes for the day so it should be a colourful occasion! We are inviting the Parish Council, our Ward Councillors and the local press to join us.

Our route is shown on the map below, which can be downloaded by clicking the map.

Families from Brooklands Estate will meet at the entrance to that estate at 8.20am, cross over Marsh Lane/Station Road, follow Manor Lane to Macclesfield Road where they will pick up families from Saltersford Gardens around 8.30 walking west up Macclesfield Road to the pedestrian crossing where children for the Hermitage will leave the ‘crocodile’.   Children going to Middlewich Road will then proceed to Mandeville's turning left at the passage to Church View, cross at the pedestrian crossing in the village centre , then use Church Walk, Bessancourt and onward along Middlewich Road to the Primary School.
