David moved to Holmes Chapel from Surrey in 1981. He has a wife, Glenda, three adult children and seven grandchildren.

Most of his working life was in the IT Industry as a Systems Manager, Account manager and Management Consultant. He left the IT industry in 2002 and retrained as a self employed Heating and Plumbing Engineer finally retiring in 2017.

During his time in Holmes Chapel he has been a Borough and Parish Councillor, Chairman of the Twinning Association, Chairman of HC Youth Club, Treasurer of HC Cinema, Treasurer of Holmes Chapel Chorus, Secretary of HC u3a and volunteer IT consultant to the Citizens Advice Bureau as well as becoming involved with Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children.
