Contrary to popular belief, I was born in Wales, but moved to Scotland at age 10; and it was Scotland which seemed to have more of an impression on me. I am married to Jenny and we have two grown-up children and two grandchildren.
For most of my working life, I was employed by ICI as a Technical Support Manager & DBA, retiring from their offices in Northwich in 1992.
I have lived in Holmes Chapel since 1968 and for a long part of that time I have been involved in local government in the area serving on the following councils:
Holmes Chapel Parish Council from 1980 to retirement in 2023, having been Chairman twice
Congleton Borough Council from 1981 to 2003 where, at various times, I chaired the Finance and also Planning Committees, was Exec member for resources and was Borough Mayor in the year 1999/00
I am now an Honorary Alderman of the Borough
Cheshire County Council from 1993 to 2001 where I was Deputy Chairman in the years 2000/01 and majored in Education, Police, Fire & Social Services.
I have been a Director of Cheshire Community Council for many years.
I have taken an active interest in various local organisations including a local art club. With this experience behind me, the best interests of Holmes Chapel are in my heart and I am keen to see our village well looked after.
